Midi-Chlorians vs. Corona Viruses
← Back
Modified cardback, bespoke blister, candy, 3D-printed viruses, acrylic paint.
“Other than this example, I don’t think I’ve really referenced anything beyond the three ‘original’ Star Wars films: A New Hope (1977); The Empire Strikes Back (1980); and Return of the Jedi (1983). These were the original movies and toys that I loved as a child, and I don’t really have much time for anything else.
However, I couldn’t resist making this playset, partly because, being microscopic, the ‘Midi-Chlorians’ afforded the idea of battling the virus at its own resolution, but mostly because they are such a canonical misstep: what’s wrong with just having a mysterious and benevolent force? Nothing. Was anything broken? No. Were the Midi-Chlorians necessary? Absolutely not. Do they enshitify the Star Wars Universe? Yeah, I reckon so…
I am particularly satisfied with the ‘healthy’ Midi-Chlorian Jelly Beans having blue spots, but the one touching the virus is darker pink and its spots have turned red.
…Nice.”
